ReSound Sensia

ReSound Sensia is a small, rechargeable hearing aid that automatically focuses on the voice in front of you while keeping you aware of your surroundings.

"Great to work with. They take their time and work to get the best fit. I'm very satisfied that I made the choice to go with Hearing Consultants.

ReSound Sensia is a new premium hearing aid family from GN Hearing, designed to solve a common frustration with today's AI-powered hearing aids: focusing on the wrong voice, or even mistaking background music for the sound you want to hear. Sensia builds on the small size and long battery life of its predecessor, ReSound Vivia, while adding smarter automatic processing. At Hearing Consultants, our audiologists are pleased to offer Sensia to patients throughout Cincinnati.

It Follows Where You Look

Most people naturally turn toward the person they want to hear. Sensia uses this simple cue to its advantage. Rather than locking onto the loudest or most prominent voice in the room, it gives preference to the speech in front of you, helping lift the conversation you are actually trying to follow. At the same time, Sensia preserves some sound from around you, so you stay aware of your surroundings and keep the natural spatial cues your brain relies on.

Three Technologies Working Together Automatically

ReSound calls Sensia's automatic sound system Intelligent All-Around. It combines three technologies that do the work in the background, so you don't have to switch programs:

  • AcoustIQ reads your sound environment and decides which features to turn on
  • A four-microphone system uses both hearing aids together to focus on speech in the direction you are facing
  • AI-based noise reduction softens competing voices and other distractions around the person you are listening to

The Right Kind of Noise Reduction for Each Situation

Not all noise is the same. When there is a conversation to preserve, Sensia uses its AI noise reduction. When the noise is mostly non-speech sound, like a fan or vacuum cleaner, it switches to ReSound's established Noise Tracker II system instead, which helps avoid unwanted sound artifacts. Sensia decides which approach fits best and moves between them as your surroundings change.

Styles for Every Ear and Hearing Need

Despite its added processing, the rechargeable microRIE keeps essentially the same small size as Vivia. Rechargeable models are rated for at least 24 hours of use, with up to about 30 hours depending on how you use them, and a smaller updated portable charger is available. Sensia comes in several styles, including receiver-in-ear models and custom in-ear options.

The microRIE is also available in versions for single-sided deafness and for bimodal use. ReSound Sensia Bimodal is designed to work with Cochlear Nucleus sound processors, supporting patients who wear a cochlear implant on one side and a hearing aid on the other.

Connected Right Out of the Box

Sensia supports Bluetooth LE Audio and Auracast, which is fully working at launch rather than waiting on a future update. Through the ReSound Smart 3D app, you can select available Auracast broadcasts in places like theaters and other public venues. At least one receiver-in-ear model also includes a telecoil for use with hearing loop systems.
